Congratulations to the 2012 Fall KANAAE Teacher Scholarship and Classroom Grant Winners

Joanna Farmer, Metro-Meridian Alternative High School, Wichita, KS – Joanna will use her grant to provide wind turbine kits to educators attending wind energy workshops, for the development of their science curriculum. As Joanna will be leading a number of workshops across Kansas, the grant will benefit a number of educators who attend these workshops.

Shireen Herold, Crestview Elementary School, Merriam, KS –Shireen will purchase an IPad2 to supplement her instruction in Math and Reading, as well as to record lessons for students who are absent or need additional help.

Megan Klassen, McPherson Middle School, McPherson, KS – Megan will use her grant to purchase an IPad2 for her social studies classroom. Megan plans to utilize the IPad2 with her students to plan and conduct research, manage projects and help with problem solving.

Lee Weber, Mission Valley High School, Eskridge, KS – Using his scholarship, Lee will work to pursue certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. This training will help Lee enhance his best practices in strength training, thus directly benefiting the students at his school.

Rose Whitney, Crestview Elementary School, Merriam, KS - Rose will utilize her grant to purchase an Elmo Projector for her classroom. The ability to project documents onto the screen for the entire classroom to see while instructing will benefit the whole classroom. Rose is planning to use it specifically with her science instruction but it can be used for all subjects.

Thanks to all who applied but were not selected to receive a scholarship or grant in this fall competition. The KANAAE Teacher Scholarships and Classroom Grants competition is held twice a year in the fall and spring. Please consider applying for the next round of scholarships and grants. The deadline for the upcoming spring competition is March 15, 2013.
