Today, the Kansas Association of American Educators (KANAAE) joins with 79 partner organizations to celebrate National Employee Freedom Week (NEFW), a national campaign to promote employee rights of association.
 
Teachers Want More Technology in the Classroom

According to the 2014 Vision K-20 report, 85%, 66%, and 83% of secondary, elementary and K-12 participants respectively think that mobile technology will be acceptable classroom resources before the year 2020.

 

That’s because teachers understand that cellphones, laptops, tablets, and eReaders have capabilities beyond portable communication. In fact, they’re using them as a way to give students an opportunity not only to develop skills and seek content, but also to create it!

 
Don't Be Like Me: 5 Giant Mistakes I Made My First Year of Teaching

Probably the best piece of advice I can give you if you're heading into your first year of teaching is "Don't be like me."

Simplifying Down: The Four-Point Grading Scale

The four-point grading scale is one that most U.S. educators are familiar with.  After all, it remains prevalent in calculating the overall grade in undergraduate and graduate courses, if not individual grades.  Yet it remains largely unused at the secondary and elementary levels, although it seems to be gaining traction in recent years.

In virtually EVERY industry in the nation, employees are paid based on their value in the marketplace for the numbers they increase, the skills they perfect, and the value they create for their employers. This is not the case in public education.
