KANAAE FOUNDATION
We have come a long way from the one-room schoolhouse with slate boards, pot-bellied stoves and outhouses. Now we have multi-million dollar campuses, computer technology and two-way interactive video distance learning. We've come a long way! Or have we? Public confidence in our educational system has dwindled in recent years. It is interesting to note that this has occurred as parental and community involvement in education has declined. The converse is also true. Where you find a high level of parental and community involvement, students thrive and education flourishes. This should come as no surprise. Our ancestors understood this all too well. The KANSAS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICAN EDUCATORS FOUNDATION, INC., has been formed to help reestablish and reemphasize the connection between educators, parents and the community. It is dedicated to supporting the efforts of the Kansas Association of American Educators in its goals to bring character education back to our schools. Through various educational activities, the Foundation will bring educators, parents and our communities together to provide better understanding of the current challenges facing our children. By bringing these interests together, the Foundation will also provide new opportunities for mutual accountability so we can provide our best to our children. The Foundation is also dedicated to promoting local control of education policy. Schools and our educators should be free to pursue programs and policies that reflect the wishes and needs of each community. They should not be dominated by national organizations with national agendas to be imposed on local communities. Won't you join us in our efforts to restore respect and esteem for our educational system by working with teachers, administrators, parents, business leaders and policy-makers? In the near future, you will be able to make an online donation, but for now, contact us at info@kanaae.org. |
